i had the pleasure of listening to mimi carpenter, max kleene and dolmere talamasca play together at soho tonight. i failed to take a surl and for that i am sorry because there were some nice art galleries there. if you have a moment take a trip over and wander around. but this post is about music, not art galleries.
max is in canada. mimi is french but she lives in germany (i think?) dolmere? no idea where he is but he most certainly was not in the same room with mimi or max. so three musicians in three countries played together in second life by some miracle of technology i cannot begin to understand let alone explain. virtual live band does a similar thing on a regular basis and juel and cylindrian have tried to make it work. i know collaborating from separate locations is not easy from a technical point of view and i really cant imagine how hard it is to do musically.
i have to tell you max, mimi and dolmere sounded great. i especially loved the addition of dolmere's bass to the familiar songs i have heard max and mimi do many times because he added a richness and fullness. i didn't know i missed the bass line until it was there and i thought "yes!"
i hope mimi, max and dolmere continue to experiment with playing together. if they do i will certainly be in the audience and i hope you will join me.

I saw them do the same thing Friday night at The Frontier and it was awesome. So cool.
