365 Days: 1/365

I have decided to jump in and do my own 365 Days within Second Life, using this blog to post the photos. I learned about 365 Days from Flickr when I ran across RL photos from some amazing photographers. The project is pretty simple -- you take and post a self portrait every day for a year.

Why would someone do this? The idea is to keep a photo journal of your life, recording the things you have done, your feelings and moods. A huge side benefit of the project is it forces you to improve your photography skills. Doing a project 365 Days in SL provides me an incentive to explore so I don't end up posting 300 photos of me standing in my sky box, which seems to be where I spend most of my time lately.

Some days I expect my 365 days will include words and maybe even music. Other days my posts will just be a photo. It is a huge commitment to post every day for a year and it means I have to at least pop into SL every day, which believe it or not I don't always do. I am sure I will miss out some days or in a time I may post a red-faced "365 Days? No idea what you are talking about." We shall see, won't we?

There is of course a narcissistic element to this project. My human is a little bit in love with my avatar, I would be dishonest if I did not admit that. Perhaps some avatar self-love translates to human self-love. Who knows, but surely that is another post for another day.

The new blog look is great, btw. I would love to do this, as I also love looking at my av.. but it would become glaringly apparent that I sometimes do not change my outfit for weeks at a time :)

This sounds like a great idea. Hopefully it will light a fire under my ---. Posting a picture is easy enough... let's hope some words will flow.:-)

This is a great idea!

One of my goals is to be a better photographer in SL. I have found that it helps to change from the default windlight settings.

Making changes is easy to do. Look in your Environment effects under Advanced. Over 300 extra affects are now available. See Torleys windlight settings at http://secondlife.mitsi.com/Secondlife/Tools/tools.htm#Windlight for how to download, save them, and use them.

Bleary winter skies - begone!
